***Mrs. H has taken a break from summer art but will resume in the future***
While I take time to raise my family, I have taken a break from summer art classes. As my family gets older I will resume art classes in the summer. If you are interested in summer art in the future please fill out the contact form under the "About" tab and let me know your interested!
Stay tuned for future summer art classes
For the past two summers I have taught summer art lessons to bring a fun creative activity to elementary, middle, and high school students in Licking county. These classes have brought students a great activity to keep them involved with kids their own age throughout the summer. The coolest part about these classes is you get to keep the brand new supplies that are provided for you so that the students can continue to create art for the remainder of the summer with the supplies they learn about. Classes started in 2015 with a few different art mediums and some very great amazing and talented students, and then has grown in 2016 to six different classes with even more amazing young and talented artists.
Zentangle II
For this class students were given colored markers and lots of different paper to create zentangle inspired designs of their own! If you do not know what zentanlges are check them out online! They are awesome designs that come together to create a picture.

"CreaTe your own art supplies" Class
For this class, I, my parents, and 8 art students set out to create chalk, watercolors and clay from scratch! I am so thankful for the help my parents provided from start to finish. They helped me set things up, helped students measure and mix during class, and then helped me clean up too. I could not have done this class without them! Thank you thank you! I am so proud of all the students! Making these art supplies was hard work, but it was a lot of fun! This class taught us math and baking skills with measuring, science with the reactions the ingredients had to make to create the supplies, and creativity to make and use our supplies. The class also required a lot of team work and patience!!
Top row from left: Supply set up. There was lots and lots of set up for this class so each student had their own supplies ready to make the art supplies. Dad and I even put tablecloths on the floor to protect it from our messy creating! Second row: clay set up, my mom and I setting up the watercolor table, Ashlynn measuring out the paint that gets mixed with plaster to create the chalk, dad and the kids mixing plaster and paint to create chalk, me and the kids mixing food coloring into the watercolor ingredients. Third row: Working hard creating the watercolors, chalk drying and packed to take home, and more watercolor creation! Bottom row: Kids happy creating and playing with their clay and our items ready and packed to take home to create!
canvas painting with acrylic paints
For this class students were given all the supplies to begin painting masterpieces on canvas! Our main task for this class was to learn how to mix, fade and blend colors with acrylic paints. These are all necessary techniques to better understand working with acrylic paints. The students did a wonderful job creating!!
Polymer clay
In our polymer clay class students received a set of their very own polymer clay colors and tools. Students then had the freedom to create anything they wanted to out of clay, and I was there to help of course. We had students make really awesome trees, little animals, dragons, beach scenes and even mini food. After class the students could choose to squish it all up and keep all of their colors, or they could also bake the clay in their oven at home and it would harden like a sculpture. We had a wonderful time sculpting!
Drawing class: realistic vs. cartoons
For this drawing lesson students learned about how to draw a human realistically vs. cartoon. We talked about facial proportions in realistic drawing and what to exaggerate in cartoon drawings to make them look like a caricature. We also talked about shading practices.
